The Obituary of Mrs. Mary Lee Horton

Mary Horton was born on January 18, 1937 in Talladega, AL to Mary and Clarence Lee. After an extended illness, she closed her eyes and answered her Master’s call. Mary confessed Christ at an early age and baptized at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church where she served in the Missionary Society.

She educated in the Gadsden City School system. Mary was employed at McGuffey’s Health Care for twenty-two (22) years as a nursing assistant.

She devoted most of her life to caring for others as a supported her residents and their families daily.

Mary Horton was preceded in death by her son, Roderick Horton; her daughter, Patricia Dixon; her mother, Mary Threatt; her father, Clarence Lee; her brothers, L.M. Posey, A.D. Posey, John Paul Posey, Cleofus Lee, Clarence Lee and Manuel Lee; her sisters, Eddie Meas Rutledge, Quintel Brisker, Rosa Lee and Rebecca Lee.

Ms. Mary leaves cherished memories with her children: Walter Cranfield (Marion) Woodbridge, VA Elaine Bernard (Thomas), Albertville, AL, Donald Horton, Clarissa Horton, Tracey Horton-Young, Edward Horton (Errin), Venus Horton, and Eboni Marbury all of Gadsden, AL; step-son, Shawn Franklin; her grandchildren: Mylando Spears, Travis Woods, Angel Cranfield, Denisha Cranfield, Bashia Smalley, Eric Cranfield, Rodrick Horton, Donald Horton, Samuel Horton, Steven Horton and sixteen (16) great grandchildren. She also leaves her brother; Minute Lee (Thelma), Petersburgh, VA; his sisters-in-law, Mary Lee, Estelle Lee, and Clara Lee, all of Detroit, MI; Special Niece, Era Vinson, Gadsden, AL and a host of nieces and nephews. Special Friend, George Thrash, Gary, IN, Kathryn Reeves, Audrey Cannon, Thelma Turner

Funeral Services will be Friday December 20,2019 1 P.M. At the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church,408 North 9th Street, Gadsden,Alabama Pastor Rodrick Thomas officiating.

Burial will follow in lincoln Hill Memorial Park.

Public Visitation will be on Thursday December 19, 2019 11-7 P.M.
