Obituary For Gary Trent Campbell

Gary Trent Campbell, more affectionately known as “Tootie the Claw,” was born January 13, 1958 to Mrs. Nellie Ward Carter and the late Mr. Sammie Carter, Jr. in Barnesville, Lamar County, GA. He attended public school in the Yatesville community and at Upson High School. At an early age, he confessed Christ and begin his service to the Lord at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Yatesville. When Gary became a young man he entered the workforce. He was employed early in his adult life at the Rock Quarry. On June 12, 1993, he was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Belinda Kaye Smith. To this union, one daughter was born. Gary was a family man. He loved his family and provided well for them. During his leisure time, Gary enjoyed playing checkers, cards, playing softball, love to talk, especially to the older adults, socializing with his friends, and spending time with his grandchildren. On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, the Lord called Gary home from labor to rest. His sudden departure has saddened the hearts of his family and friends, but his memory will live on in their hearts. Gary leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mrs. Belinda Smith Campbell of Yatesville, GA; his mother, Mrs. Nettie Ward Carter of Yatesville, GA; four children, Ms. Nyaisha Campbell of Yatesville, GA, Ms. Latoya Troy and Ms. Vanessa Williams both of Griffin, GA, and Mrs. Ashley (Jose) Rojas of Barnesville, GA; seven grandchildren also survived; sisters, and brothers include, Mr. Willie Carter of Rochester, NY, Mr. James (Shirley) Carter of Indianapolis, IN, Mrs. Seretha Robinson and Ms. Gwendolyn Carter both of Yatesville, GA, Ms. Melodie Jordan of Culloden, GA, Ms. Marjorie Carter and Mrs. Debra (Timothy) Holmes both of Barnesville, GA and Mrs. Wanda (Albert) O’Neal of Griffin, GA; mother-in-law, Mrs. Velma Smith of Thomaston, GA; sisters, and brothers-in-law, Mrs. Melody (David) Walker, Mrs. Michele (Steven) Carter, Mr. George (Valerie) Smith, Ms. Bayons (James) Holloway, Mr. Jeff Middlebrooks and, Mr. Stead (Lasonia) Walker all of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Brenda (Vonshaffer) Bell of Houston, TX and Mrs. Angela (Louis) Lee of Kalamazoo, MI; special aunts and uncle, Ms. Vivian Carter of Indianapolis, IN, Mrs. Bessie Evans of Decatur, GA and Mr. Burford Carter of Yatesville, GA; a devoted friend, Mr. Tony (Vicky) Pina of Jonesboro, GA; a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
