David Croft, son of the late Fate Croft and Veora Davis Croft was born March 23, 1938 in Collinsville, Alabama. Brother Croft departed this life on December 27, 2019.

At an early age he joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Collinsville, Alabama. For many years he served faithfully as a Senior Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

David was a 1957 graduate of Gregory High school in Collinsville, Alabama. He decided to further his education at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1963. He excelled in sports, especially football, which he had an extreme passion for that would spill over into later years. He was inducted into the Morris Brown Hall of Fame in 1996. David decided to earn his Master’s Degree from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. He later obtained his Specialist Certification from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama. Brother Croft taught science within multiple school systems for 36 years, where he also coached boys’ and girls’ basketball, track and field, and football. David’s gift for teaching and motivating created an inspiring experience in the classroom and on the field for every student and athlete he encountered.

Brother Croft was united in the bond of holy matrimony to Jeanette Rogers in 1964. To this union four children were born.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mrs. Jeanette Rogers Croft; two children, Lynn Jeanelle Croft and Bronson Croft; two brothers, C.L. Croft and Lonnie Croft and one sister, Anna Mae Croft.

He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory two children, Mrs. Tammie (Kelvin) Croft-Tate of Argo, Alabama and David Croft, Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama; three grandchildren, Justin Croft of Birmingham, Alabama, Kinsley Tate of Argo, Alabama, and Olivia Watts of Huntsville, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

David is now at peace, resting on his constant faith in the love of the Lord Jesus Christ.

David’s fun-loving personality, warm smile and laugh was infectious. He had an uncanny ability to bring the best out of everyone he met and his legacy will never be forgotten by all those who loved him dearly.

Celebration of life services will be 2 O’clock Saturday, January 4, 2019 at the Galilee Baptist Church 901 s.16th Street Eulogist: Reverend Dr. G.E. Robinson.Jr. Visitation will be Friday, 11am-8pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Croft Cemetery

Coach Croft was a funny man. I went to Litchfield and he kept those kids in line. They respected Coach Croft. He will truly be missed. The family is is my thoughts and prayers.
