Obituary For Brother Torrey Jamel Godwin

Torrey Jamel Godwin received the precious gift of life on April 3, 1990 in Marianna, Florida, to Dairet and Toretha Godwin. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, where he was active with the Youth Department. Torrey was educated in the public schools of Jackson County, where he attended Grand Ridge School through 9th grade. In his 10th grade year Torrey enrolled at Marianna High School where he graduated in the Class of 2009. He was currently employed with the Public Works Department of the City of Marianna. On December 27, 2019, God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to call Torrey from his earthly home to eternal rest. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. Sadden by his untimely demise, yet rejoicing in his heavenly transition is his loving and caring family, to include: his parents, Dairet and Toretha Godwin; Two sisters, Daericca Godwin and Alisha Godwin; one brother, Antonia Godwin; three nieces, Cyianna Smith, Ava Barnes and Channel Godwin; two nephews, Treven Smith and Cyion Smith; and a host of aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends. A celebration of Torrey’s life will be held Saturday, January 4th at 12 noon at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Dwight Cockerham, Sr., Rev. Travis Ephriam, Rev. Norris Calhoun and Rev. Pretis Godwin Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.

I was so saddened to hear of Torrey’s passing... I had the honor of teaching Torrey and he was always such a joy... even when I saw him as he got older he was always so glad to see me and he always has that amazing smile and twinkle in his eye... you will be missed
