Obituary For Edith Annette Calhoun

A celebration of life for Ms. Edith Annette Calhoun, 57, will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St. Campbell Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Richard Fair will deliver the eulogy. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Ms. Calhoun will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Edith Annette Calhoun was born on Tuesday, December 25, 1962 to the union of Chancey Calhoun and Katie Mae Garrett Calhoun in Talladega County, Alabama.

At an early age, Ms. Calhoun united with St. Campbell Missionary Baptist Church. She received her education in the Talladega County Schools concluding at Talladega County Training School. Edith was employed with Tyson Foods and Mama Ree’s Restaurant for a number of years.

On the evening of Tuesday, December 31, 2019, Edith traded time for eternity. She was preceded in passing by children, Dontavious Calhoun and Cinnamon Calhoun; and her parents, Chancey and Katie Calhoun.

She leaves to cherish her memory: five children, Onetha Calhoun of Talladega, Alabama, Ronaleta Calhoun of Childersburg, Alabama, Antonio (Tonia) Calhoun and Shakelia Calhoun of Lincoln, Alabama and LaPorsha Calhoun of Jacksonville, Florida; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren; five sisters, Mary (Edward) Baker and Willie Calhoun of Cleveland, Ohio, Cora (James) Elston of Panama City, Florida, Olivia Willis of Talladega, Alabama and Jackie (Walter) Garner of Vincent, Alabama; four brothers, Chancey Calhoun, Jr. of Childersburg, Alabama, Robert (Barbara) Calhoun of Jacksonville, Florida, Perry (Wilbertine) Calhoun of Atlanta, Georgia and Charles Calhoun of Childersburg, Alabama; six special friends, Laura Battle, Mary Green, Annette Kelley, Theresa Robinson, Rebecca Garrett and Marilyn Morris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
