Mrs. Earnestine Allen Ivey

Augusta, GA— Earnestine Allen Ivey was born October 17, 1951 in Augusta, Ga. to Dosye and Dorothy Allen. Her father, Dosye, preceded her in death. She was the oldest of five children. Earnestine grew up in Augusta and attended the Richmond County Public School System. She went on to graduate with a nursing degree from Augusta College (now Augusta University).

Earnestine met Walter Donald Ivey in the fall of 1956 when both families were next-door neighbors. As a result of constant fellowship throughout the years they were married in 1970 and during this union two sons and one daughter was born.

Earnestine was fortunate to obtain employment working as a private duty nurse for over twenty years. Her hard work and dedication allowed her to seize numerous assignments until her retirement. After enjoying what she thought was retirement for a few years, she and her husband relocated to Atlanta, Ga. to care for an ill aunt.

Earnestine accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized in a creek at St. Mary Baptist Church. In fact, this was the home church of her mother. It was located in Allendale County, S.C. She later became a member of the Park Missionary Baptist Church. Earnestine was a classy, sweet lady that walked with confidence and grace. She always spoke with the intent of impacting lives. Earnestine touched many lives. She was everyone's aunt, grandmother, mother, sister and friend. Earnestine showed if you love unconditionally you and your life partner will be the better for the love shown. Earnestine love her life partner unconditionally. Though Earnestine Allen Ivey will be missed, her legacy will live on in her family as well as the many lives she touched. She is survived by: her husband; Walter, sons, Pablo (Ashley) Keys of Orangeburg, SC, and Walter D. Ivey of Augusta, GA; one daughter, Nina (Moses) Ishokir of Augusta, GA; a devoted mother, Dorothy Allen; a loving sister, Brenda (Reginald) Bethea; three brothers, Benjamin Allen, Larry (Karlene) Allen and Dosye (Yolanda) Allen all of Augusta, GA; sister-in-law, Annie (William) Allen; brother-in-law, John (Carlis) Ivey both of Augusta, Ga; seven grandchildren, Edward, little Dosye little Fred, Zena (Keyon) Edge, Savannah, Hannah and Ivan; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, and friends.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 5:00 PM To 6:00 PM at the mortuary.

Celebration of life will be held for Earnestine on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Park Missionary Baptist Church, 144 Douglas Drive, Beech Island, SC, Reverend Daviad Mitchem, pastor-officiate and Reverend Kenneth Allen, eulogist.
