Franklin D.R. Benson, Sr. Was born May 17, 1933 in Spartanburg County, SC to the late Mr. & Mrs. Roosevelt & Dollie Cooper Benson. He entered into eternal rest on January 9, 2020 at the age of 86.

Deacon Benson was a member of the Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church of Spartanburg, SC. A graduate of New Bethel High School - Woodruff, SC. He retired from Carolina Freight Carriers.

Brother Benosn leaves to cherish fond and loving memories his wife Mrs. Fannie Benson of Woodruff, SC; one daughter, Mrs. Blondell (James) Nesbitt of Greenville, SC; one son, Rev. Dr. F. Delano R. (Brender) Benson, Jr. of St. Louis, MO; four Grandchildren, six Great-Grandchildren; and a host of loving family members and friends.

The Homegoing Celebration for Deacon Benson will be on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 2:00 pm. The body will be placed in the sanctuary at 1:00 PM. The family will receive visitation at the home in Woodruff, SC. Please keep the Benson Family in your prayers.
