Obituary For Jumar D. Sims, Jr.

A celebration of life for Mr. Jumar D. Sims, Jr., 18, will be 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Clarence Henderson will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Sims will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be Friday, January 17, 2020 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Mr. Jumar D. Sims, Jr., was born on Wednesday, April 25, 2001, in Talladega, Alabama to the parentage of Nukeysha Sillmon and Jumar D. Sims, Sr.

Mr. Sims accepted Christ at an early age, and on March 24, 2014, he was baptized and united with Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a 2019 graduate of Talladega High School. After graduating, Jumar, Jr. was scheduled to enter the United States Air Force in the spring of 2020. Jumar departed this natural life and was called to receive an eternal life with God on January 8, 2020. He leaves behind family and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in passing by his great-grandparents, Eugene Rivers, Melvin C. Sillmon, John R. Sims, Alice M. Sims and Willie Farrior; and an aunt, Lakisha Swain. He leaves to mourn his passing: his parents, Nukeysha Sillmon and Jumar D. Sims, Sr. of Talladega, Alabama; grandparents, Tony and Cynthia Sillmon, Willie J. Davis of Talladega, Alabama and Sharon Sims of Pell City, Alabama; great-grandparents, Ruth C. Rivers of Talladega, Alabama, Florence Sillmon of Alpine, Alabama and Barbara Pearson of Talladega, Alabama; siblings, Janiya Burt, Ja'Siyah Sims, Corlon Pope, Jurlandis Sims, Jhamarian Whitson and Jurmani Sims; aunts and uncles, Tureka Sillmon, Stacey Sillmon, Kyana Kelly, Tonora “Uncle Spanky” Swain, Shandreka Jones, Artavia Garrett, Jatario Wright, Contessa Williams and Rogera Spell; special friends he loved like siblings, Destin Moss, Lyrikah Varner and Lakijah Brown; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
