Obituary For Walter Leroy Lawrence

Mr. Walter Leroy Lawrence was born on May 9, 1945 in Barnesville, Lamar County, GA to the parentage of the late Mrs. Amanda G. Williams Morris and the late Mr. Leroy Lawrence. He was educated in the Lamar County School System, graduating with the Booker High School Class of 1963. At an early age, he confessed his life to Christ and joined the West Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. He served as the Chairman of the Usher Ministry and was a faithful and dedicated member until his untimely death. He also served on the Middle Georgia Ushers Association, where he was the Assistant Director, Chairman of the Time and Place Committee, and Chairman of the Executive Committee. Walter was employed with the William Carter Company in Barnesville, GA for over 40 years. He was most recently employed with the Southern Crescent Technical College in Griffin, GA. He enjoyed life’s simplest pleasures, which included watching wrestling and football on television. On Thursday, January 2, 2020, the Lord decided it was time for Walter’s earthly journey to end, so He called him into eternal rest. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Corey Sue Ward and Lizzie G. Anderson. Walter leaves to cherish his memory two children, Sonya N. Lawrence of Barnesville, GA and Walter N. Lawrence of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren, Elijah R. Lawrence and Layla J. Lawrence of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Jeanette Morris of Elyria , OH and Wanda D. (Anthony) Sherman of Boynton Beach, FL; brothers, Larry R.(Patricia) Morris of Griffin, GA, William R. Morris of Barnesville, GA, Brandy L. Lawrence of Lima, OH, Lacey A. Lawrence of Colorado Springs, CO, Calvin (Kimberly) Lawrence of Lake Alfred, FL, Andrew (Bernice) Lawrence of Lima, OH; a special cousin, Catherine Fletcher; a special friend, Mary Barkley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends who will miss him dearly. Funeral Services were held Saturday, Janauary11, 2020 11:00 A.M. West Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Interment Church Cemetery
