Obituary For Effie Black

Mrs. Effie Smith Black, 100, peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 18, 2020. Mrs. Black was the daughter of the late John and Sallie Little Smith. She was the widow of Perrin A. Black, Sr.

Mrs. Black was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Whitestone.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her children, Annie L. Bland of Chesterfield, VA, Perrin A. Black, Jr., Sallie McDowell, Sundra Connor (James), Marvin Black (Terra), Dr. Larry Black (Dr. Teresa), Michael (Ouida) and Nathan Black all of Spartanburg, SC.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: four sons, Sterling Tyrone Black, Wonzo Black, Joseph Black and Paul Fant, Sr.; one daughter, Catherine Taylor; one son in-law, Clarence Taylor; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

A Celebration of the Life of Mrs. Effie Smith Black will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Rev. Victor L. Glenn will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, 93 Mt. Calvery Church Rd., Whitestone, SC 29302.

OES Rites will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.

The family will receive friends at the home of Sundra and James Connor, 138 Raintree Dr., Spartanburg, SC.
