Obituary For Betty Jean Alston

On Saturday afternoon January 18, 2020, the trumpets blew for Ms. Betty Jean Alston where she joined the band of heavenly angels. Betty Jean Alston was born August 29, 1940 in High Point, NC to the late Carson and Ida Alston. She was preceded in death by both parents, Carson and Ida Alston and sister, Barbara Ann Haskins. At an early age, Betty Jean Alston accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was a 1958 graduate from William Penn High School and was an active and faithful member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of many ministries in which she served on the Missionary Team, Senior Saints Choir, Culinary Ministry and Thursday Afternoon Senior Bible Study. She leaves to cherish her precious memories one son, Aaron (Ronda) Alston of Mt. Holly, NC; two sisters, Margaret Alston of High Point, NC and Mattie Alston of Savannah, GA; one brother, Carson (Joy) Alston of Fort Washington, MD; seven grandchildren, Ra'Niya McGowan of Charlotte, NC and Charles McGowan of Mt Holly, NC, Jehiel, Kelija, Danijah and Samiya McGowan of Mt Holly, NC, Adrieanna Graham of Charlotte, NC and one great granddaughter, Jayla McGowan of Concord, NC; a dear friend, Peggy Moore and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.

Funeral service will be held Friday, January 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church,1710 E. Green Drive. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

My deepest condolences! I didnt know until now. I talked to her about my mom passing on 12/24/19. I had no clue! A lot of memories with Ms. Betty as I called her from Oak Grove and her and my mom were on the senior choir at one point together. Her and mom together again.
