Bryce Garrett Metts was born May 15, 1997 to Mr. Charles D. Metts and Mrs. Donna J. Metts in Atlanta, Georgia.

On Friday, January 17, 2020, the Angels arrived to take Bryce home to be joined with his spiritual family: father, Charles D. Metts and sister, Kirsten Patrice Metts. Bryce was the youngest of three sons including Chase Nicholas Metts and Jordan Anderson Metts.

Bryce’s early nurturing began in a loving home and at Central United Methodist Church. He attended Sunday school, served as an acolyte, usher and participated in youth activities. He was a 6th generation member of the Wade, Brayboy, Jones, Metts, Anderson and Kellam families at Central United Methodist Church.

Educated in the Clayton County School System, Bryce enjoyed sports and was an avid athlete. He was competitive and prided himself on being the best at playing football, baseball and basketball. He studied at Georgia Gwinnett College and was exploring his options for a permanent career at the time of his death.

There were so many wonderful aspects to his life, and many ways that he touched our lives. Bryce will be remembered as a phenomenal son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and a great friend. He leaves his family and friends heartbroken, as we were waiting to see his full potential.

He is survived by mother, Mrs. Donna Jones Metts; brothers, Chase N. Metts, Jordan A. Metts; grandmother, Mrs. Joyce Brayboy Jones; uncles, Reginald, Gregory and William Jones, Wendell and Vernon Metts; aunts, Malinda and Deborah Metts, and LaSonya Jones-Wade; great-aunts, Wilma Bailey and Elanor Proctor; cousins, other relatives and friends.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Grissom-Clark Funeral Home.

4th grade Bryce was my best friend, we were like two of the smartest kids in our class but both edgy in our own way. He was a natural leader. Happy I was able to get in contact with him a year before he passed.

Please allow me the chance to express my deepest sympathy for the loss of your most precious loved one Bryce. Although I didn't know him personally, I can tell by all the beautiful expressions of love that he was an extraordinary young man. I pray that you will find comfort in the loving support of family, friends, but most of all in the soothing words found in the bible. How good to know that our heavenly father cares for us all and that he will never forget our loved ones who have died. He assures us that the time will come when we will see them again by means of the resurrection. John5:28-29 Do not let your hearts be troubled. Have faith in the promises of God. The grand reunion with your loved one is just around the corner. Acts 24:15 Until then may the tender loving care of our heavenly father Jehovah provide you with peace, hope and comfort as we await the fulfillment of all his promises. Cling to the beautiful and timeless memories... These are precious times that no one can ever take away!!

We just wanted to say how sorry we are for your loss. Death is something that God never intended to happen. I hope you draw comfort from the scriptures and prayer. Revelation 21:4 says that "Jehovah God will wipe out every tear from their eyes and DEATH WILL BE NO MORE, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." We know this is speaking about promises for the earth because there is no pain or death in heaven. Won't that be a wonderful time? NO MORE DEATH! John 17:3 speaks of having EVERLASTING LIFE if you come to know God and his son Jesus. More promises of everlasting life! How grand! Again, we are sorry for your loss.

I remember doing everything with Bryce like it was yesterday. We grew up together elementary, middle, and high school. I knew he always had potential and I always believed in him just as he believed in me and saw me for who I really was; vice versa. I’ll always love Bryce and he will always be in my heart. I didn’t imagine losing him and not this soon. Ms. Donna, Chase, and Jordan you all are in my prayers and I am so sorry for your lost. He will always be with is no matter what.
