Ms. Gennie Mae Stokes Evans, 370 B Waverly Ave, Keysville, GA departed this life Saturday, January 18, 2020 at an Augusta Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, 27, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church, Gough, GA. Burial will be held in Third Baptist Church Cemetery, Midville, GA. Ms. Evans was a native of Burke County. In 1963 she moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. where she worked as at Bellsouth Phone County as an operator until her retirement in 1991. In 2003 she returned to Georgia. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Gough, GA. She is preceded in death by one son, Sylvester Stokes, her siblings, Johnnie Stokes, Jr., Robert Stokes, Freddie Stokes and Dora Davis. Survivors include one son, Thomas (Jacqueline Wilson) Evans, Augusta, GA; two daughters, Charlene Evans and Glenda L. Evans, Brooklyn, N.Y.; her siblings, Jake (Corene) Stokes, Waynesboro, GA, Henry (Linda) Stokes, Mary (Henry) Johnson, Augusta, GA, Gertrude Hamelin and Annie (Eddie) Atwell, Decatur, GA, Katie Jackson, St. Petersburg, FL; sisters-in-law, Leora Stokes, Louise Stokes; grandchildren, Nikkiya Evans, Tomeah Evans, Steven English, Emani Morgan and Earl Morgan, Jr.; one great grandchild, Riley English; five God children, Sylvester Carlis, Amare Harris, Erica Longmire, Barbara Bowden and Charles Hankerson; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
