Rev. Dr. Loyd Reid, transitioned to his heavenly home, Sunday morning, January 19, 2020. He was born April 5, 1931 in Lancaster County South Carolina. He was the son of the late Duncan and Elizabeth Barnes Reid. He was married to the late Essie Mae Pate Reid.

Dr. Reid was educated in the Lancaster County School System.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Denise R. Catoe and one son Sylvester Reid.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Barbara Winchester (Eric) of Charlotte, NC and Carolyn Reid of Lancaster, S.C.; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

A Service Commemorating the life and legacy of Dr. Loyd Reid will be 6:00 pm Friday at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church. Services will be conducted by Reverend George Mingo. Viewing will be at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.

The Homegoing Service for Dr. Reid will be Saturday, 11:30 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 1426 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC. Funeral Service will be conducted by Reverend George Mingo and Rev. Dr. Waldo Robinson.

The body will be lie in state, 9:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. at Second Baptist Church.
