Obituary For Pressley Cantey, Jr.

Funeral service for Mr. Pressley Cantey, Jr. will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday, January 27, 2020 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 4211 East Old Marion Highway, Florence, South Carolina. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

A Time to Be Born Mr. Pressley Cantey, Jr. was born on August 3, 1950 in Lake City, South Carolina, to the late Virginia Hilton and was raised by the late Presley and Mary Cantey, Sr.

A Time to Live Pressley attended the Public Schools of Florence County. He graduated from Carver High School Class of 1968, in Lake City, South Carolina. After graduation, he relocated to Florence, South Carolina, attended Florence Darlington Technical College and received an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology. Pressley was employed by the City of Florence as a Street Sweeper and Mosquito Technician. He was also a Licensed CDL Driver for many years.

A Time to Love Pressley was united in holy matrimony to Mary Chandler on March 11, 1985. They became proud parents of three children.

A Time to Serve Pressley attended Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Florence, South Carolina, where he dedicated his life to Christ.

A Time to Die On Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 1:45 PM, Pressley suddenly and without warning was called from labor to reward. Those preceding him in death includes: his mother; his parents; and two brothers, Samuel Epps and James Montgomery.

A Time to Mourn Pressley leaves a living legacy in the lives of those who knew him: his loving wife, Mary Cantey of the home; one son, Diamond (Briana) Cantey of Florence, South Carolina; two daughters, Angela Spates of Lake City, South Carolina and Tocara (Josh) Cantey of Florence, South Carolina; two sisters, Dorothy Cantey and Rebecca (Larry) Hanna both of Lake City, South Carolina; two uncles, Roman (Cynthia) Hilton of Timmonsville, South Carolina and Leroy (Vernell) Hilton of Plainfield, New Jersey; one aunt, Francis Hilton of Greeleyville, South Carolina; one brother-in-law, Joseph (Betty) Chandler of Rochester, New York; three sisters-in-law, Flossie Loury of Columbia, South Carolina, Nancy (Cebert) Lyston of Rochester, New York, and Mattie (James) Cusaac of Florence, South Carolina; ten grandchildren, Orlando (Rekina),Genesis, Damoni, Kenya, Ionie, Blessins, Eric, Rakyah, Torias (Duke) and Onyx; one great grandchild, Orlando, Jr.; and a host of nephews; nieces; devoted cousins; and loving friends.

The family will receive friends 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM at 4752 Lucius Circle, Florence
