Obituary For Emma Dean Cross

Home going celebration for Mrs. Emma Dean Garrett Cross, 86, will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Move of God Bibleway Deliverance Tabernacle. Apostle Prezell Lane will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in the Pine Hill AOH Cemetery. Mrs. Cross will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Emma Dean Garrett Cross was born on Friday, June 2, 1933, to the late Mr. Thomas P. and Mrs. Mannie T. Garrett. Mrs. Cross was one of eleven children born to this union. Mrs. Cross married the late Mr. Earnest J. Cross were married on May 13, 1966. She was faithful to him until his death and to this union, fourteen children were born. Mrs. Cross was a loving wife, mother and friend to all she met. She had a heart of gold and a sweet, humble soul and she loved with all her heart. She never said a harsh word or raised her voice. She gave us all love and showed us the Lord God. Mrs. Cross joined Pine Hill AOH Church of God where she gave her life to Christ at an early age and remained faithful to the church. She was the mother of the church.

Mrs. Cross departed this life unexpectedly on Monday, January 27, 2020, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mr. Earnest J. Cross; a son, Mr. Walter Garrett; a daughter, Ms. Charlene Draper; three grandchildren, Ladele Cross and Jimmie S. Garrett and Miss Torsha Boyce; two sons-in-law, Mr. Robert Bentley and Mr. J. E. Garrett; five brothers, Mr. Julius Garrett, Mr. Curtis Garrett, Mr. Samuel Garrett, Mr. Hugh Garrett and Mr. Willie Garrett; and five sisters, Ms. Estella Garrett, Mrs. Olda Childs, Mrs. Lela Swain, Mrs. Betty Smoot and Ms. Pauline Garrett. Mrs. Cross was the last of her siblings to depart this life and now they are all together again.

Mrs. Cross leaves to cherish her memories: six sons; MSgt Donell (Wanda) Cross of San Antonio, Texas, Mr. James (Vanessa) Cross of Talladega, Alabama, Mr. Gregory Cross, Mr. Patrick Cross and Mr. Thad Cross of Alpine, Alabama and Mr. Clement (Veronica) Cross of Childersburg, Alabama; five daughters; Ms. Martha Bentley of Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, Ms. Cordella Garrett of Sylacauga, Alabama, Mrs. Yolanda (Daniel) Swain of Akron, Ohio, Ms. Shelia Draper of Pell City, Alabama and Mrs. Charlettia (Rondetric) Womack of Sylacauga, Alabama; thirty-seven grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Bertha Lee Jones, Ester Garrett and Beatrice Garrett; one brother-in-law, Thomas Swain; and a host of nieces and nephews.
