Mrs. Martha Addison Lawton, 67, of 419 Hobbs Ave. Shelby, NC passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby. She was born in Cleveland County, NC on November 1, 1952 to the late Will Addison and Margere Bines Addison.

Mrs. Lawton was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She helped raise 2 of her grandchildren, Martishada Walker and Markwaun Lawton. She loved her family. She enjoyed cookouts and family gatherings. She was a devoted wife of 29 years and together for 38 years to Henry P. Lawton, Jr.

Mrs. Lawton was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Wray Williamson; two grandchildren, Quadrickuas Petty and Carter Lawton and six brothers, Maurice Addison, Jim Addison, James Addison, Willie Addison, Kilgore Addison and Thomas Addison.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Henry P. Lawton, Jr.; her daughters, Doris Hopper (Rodney), Tonya Petty (Joseph) and April Potlow (Lee) all of Shelby; three sons, Henry Petty Lawton, III of Atlanta, GA, Cedric Lawton (Latoya) and Tomarris Lawton (Diamond) both of Shelby; one sister, Mary Cunningham of Shelby; two brothers, Dock Addison (Saunda) of Shelby and Fred Addison (Sarah) of Dayton, OH; a special friend, Monica Clark of Shelby; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 2:00 PM at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM at the chapel.
