MR. JAMES ALPHONSO DAVIS son of the late John and Dorothy Payton Davis was born December 2, 1951 in Brunswick County, VA and departed this life February 1, 2020 in South Hill, VA.

At an early age he was baptized and joined Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. He attended the Brunswick County Public Schools.

James was employed as a painter for many years until he became ill.

He later joined True Gospel Holiness Church, Brodnax, VA and remained a member until his passing.

In his spare time he loved to watch Major League Baseball.

James is survived by three sons- Reginal, James Jr., and Dereke Davis; three brothers- Russell Davis, Lawrenceville, VA, Stanford Davis, Baltimore, MD and Boney Davis, Brodnax, VA; numerous grandchildren; devoted friend- Maris Gillis, LaCrosse, VA; devoted brother-in-law, Cornell Johnson, South Hill, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
