Obituary For Bessie Mae Watts

Ms. Bessie Mae Watts, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Eulogist: Reverend Darryl Davis. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. West Gadsden Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Bessie Mae Jackson Watts was born on April 11, 1928 to the late Sam and Mamie Smith in Phenix City, Alabama where she attended Phenix County Schools. She served as a Domestic Engineer and worked at the Holy Name of Jesus Hospital and Attalla Health Care. At an early age, she accepted Christ and united with Bethlehem Baptist Church until her health declined. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, two brothers, Jim Smith and Jesse Smith; one sister, Rosetta Smith; two sons, Percy Jackson and William Watts; two daughters, Barbara Jackson and Linda Jackson; one grandson, Jeffery Edwards and two great grands, Corian Jackson and Tekia Turner. Bessie departed this life on February 4, 2020. We will cherish the loving memories of her smile, her kind words and especially her cooking. She was the rock of the community. Bessie leaves to cherish her loving memories: one sister, Ms. Irene Jordan of Toledo, OH; her children, Virginia Jackson and Carl (Joyce) Jackson, both of Gadsden, AL; grandchildren, Trina Banks of Loganville, GA, Marsha Edwards, Courtney Jackson, Daphne, Amelphia Jackson, Kerry and Derreus Jackson, all of Gadsden, AL; Bessie was

loved and respected by 15 great grandchildren, 8 great- great grandchildren, one special niece, the late Eula Ash

(RIP) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
