All things come home at eventide and so it was with our loved one. Shawanda Lee "Patty" Joyce on Saturday, February 1, 2020 she peacefully made her transition into eternity and Christian victory was declared. Affectionately known as Patty, was born March 11, 14954 to the late Moses and Crissie Joyce in Rockingham County, North Carolina. Being nurtured in Stoneville, NC. Patty attended the Madison-Mayodan High School. She was employed with Macfield Texturing for approximately twenty years. Patty was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She loved God first and foremost. Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was a woman with a strong constitution, but an even stronger faith and a sincere desire to do God's will. She embraced life with wisdom, enthusiasm and compassion for helping humanity. Second to God, in Patty's eyes nothing was more important than her daughter, Sonya, granddaughter, Jabreya and family. She prided herself in her delectable cooking and being a "fashionista". She could be incredibly funny, very outspoken, but she kept it "real". She loved hard, but was fair and would always have words of encouragement to give to people she came in contact with daily. Patty was preceded in death by two sisters; Portia Settle and Venessa Joyce and one brother, Moses Joyce, Jr. Surviving relatives to cherish her memories: one daughter; Sonya Martin Gilmore (Enreico), granddaughter; Jabreya Martin, two sisters; Janice Kaye Joyce,Felicia Joyce Kornegay both of Greensboro, NC, two brothers; Robert Harold Joyce, Eden, NC, Jeffrey Joyce, Winston Salem, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, two very dear friends; Julia A. McCollum and Sherlene "Penny" Hairston. Patty's jovial, caring and humorous spirit will forever remain in our memories.
