Obituary For Emma Satterfield Payne

Mrs. Emma S. Payne, 74, of Madison, died February 5, 2020. Funeral Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday February 9, 2020 at Goodwill First Baptist Church, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Emma was born March 24, 1945 to the late Fred and Annie Webster. She transitioned peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Penn Nursing Center, Reidsville, NC. Emma attended Charles Drew High School and worked for Unifi Inc for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of Goodwill First Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing praises with the Gospel Choir for many years and also served in a leadership position of the culinary staff until her health declined. Her love and compassion for others often found her taking meals to the sick, accompanying and/or driving them to doctor's appointments. Emma was a "Missionary", she served in that capacity whenever and where ever possible. For 25 years, despite her many medical issues and diagnosis, she kept the faith, trusting the Lord and truly was an inspiration to us all. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Donna Satterfield, sisters, Frances Kellam, Birdie Searcy and Lillie Bell Searcy, brothers, John Oscar, Tom, Dewey, Freddie, Sam Henry and Floyd. Emma leaves to cherish her memories: Daughters; Tammy Dalton (Sherwood) of Madison, NC, Pattie (Lynn) McKellar of Greensboro, NC, stepson; Michael Goolsby (Summors), granddaughters; Ariana and Shatana Dalton, Shamara Satterfield, grandson; C.J. McKellar, Michael Dalton and Dwayne Dalton. brother; Willie Webster, sisters; Mother Sallie Ruth Lowe, Louise Joyce and Loretta Dalton. Two brothers-in-law; James W. Searcy and Buster Searcy. Two special aunts; Alice Moore and Marie Hoover, a dear cousin, Paul Carter, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
