Obituary For Steven Mark Kennington

Mr. Steven Mark “Ernie” Kennington, 56, died on February 2, 2020 in Lancaster, South Carolina. Steven held a love for sports all his life. Growing up, he could often be found on a softball field playing with friends. As an adult, many of his weekends were spent playing travel softball. He was often happiest on the field or spending time with his three children. Steven worked most of his life as a Carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his Maternal grandparents, Carl Ellis and Geneva Ellis Watts and his Paternal grandparents, Ferris and Naomi Kennington, Birth Mom Hazel Hinson Stogner and Mike Hinson, brothers, Timothy Hinson and Michael “Petey” Hinson

Steven is survived by his parents, Calvin and Yvonne Kennington; two brothers and two sisters, David Kennington (Cindy), Pam Sims (Michael), Carla Goodwin (Ken) and Jeff Green (Darlene); three children, Heather Kennington, Marcus Kennington and Mitchell Kennington, along with a host of nieces and nephews and friend Pete Stogner.

Services will be Saturday at 11:00, February 15, 2020 at Oak Hill Baptist Church with visitation following. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved “G-maw” in the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery during a private burial.

As we say goodbye, we remember a song Steven was fond of and his children say he listened to often.

Go rest high on that mountain Son, your work on earth is done. Go to heaven-a-shoutin’ Love for the Father and the Son.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials be sent to the Oak Hill Baptist Church Children’s Playground Fund in Steven’s memory.
