Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Nell Jones, 82, will be 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Terry's Mortuary Chapel. Pastor J. F. McKinney will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery.
Mary Nell Brown Jones was born on Tuesday, October 12, 1937, to the union of Henry Brown and Gladys Stone Brown in Talladega County, Alabama.
Mrs. Jones confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess and usher. She concluded her education at Talladega County Training School. Mary Nell was employed with Talladega Healthcare Center for fifteen years and retired from Allen Oil Company in 2003. In her spare time, Mary Nell enjoyed gardening, cleaning, singing and volunteering with the American Cancer Society.
On the afternoon of Thursday, February 6, 2020, Mary Nell traded time for eternity. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Joseph Jones; her parents, Henry and Gladys Brown; four brothers, Lafield Brown, Dwight Brown, John Allen Wilson and Henry Brown; and two sisters, Sara Turner and Emily Garrett.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Samuel (Tasheta) Brown of Pell City, Alabama; a special nephew that she loved as a son, Calvin Jones of Alpine, Alabama; three grandchildren, Gerri (Donald) Sims of Atlanta, Georgia, Anthony Mayfield of Washington, DC and Samantha Garrett of Talladega, Alabama; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Ruth Taylor of Talladega, Alabama and Celloven Garrett of Akron, Ohio; one brother, Arthur Brown of Pell City, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
I remember her as loving and kind beautiful inside and out but I will cherish the memories so my Deepest Sympathies to the family.RIP Suga gal you will be missed.
