Obituary For Samuel J. Elam

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun; Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Mr. Samuel J. Elam, age 71, of 632 Ridgeway Warrenton Road in Warrenton, North Carolina departed this life on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Pruitt Health and Rehab in Durham, North Carolina.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Manson, North Carolina. Bishop Elect Wayne Bullock Pastor of Guiding Star United Holy Church in Roselle, New Jersey will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Guiding Star Holiness Church Cemetery in Manson, North Carolina.

He is preceded in death by his parents; John and Alice Elam; four siblings, Blanche Hayes, Willie A. Elam, David Elam, and Benjamin Elam; two brothers-in-law, Reverend Willie Hayes, and Clemon Bullock.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his siblings, Laura Bullock of Trevose, Pennsylvania, Jannie Nesmith (Theo) of Haverford, Pennsylvania, Alvin Elam (Ruby) of Warrenton, North Carolina, Wayne Elam (Sharron) of Warrenton, North Carolina, Jarvis Elam (Aurelia) of Warrenton, North Carolina, Cleophus Elam (Phyllis) of Manson, North Carolina, Robert Elam (Shirley) of Warrenton, North Carolina, Dwight Elam of Henderson, North Carolina, Malcolm Elam (Joyce) of Henderson, North Carolina, Mac Davis of Richmond, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Ruginia Elam of Levittown, Pennsylvania, and Pamela Elam of Neptune, New Jersey; four god brothers, John Andrews (Catherine) of Warrenton, North Carolina, Allen Simmons (Kim) of Henderson, North Carolina, Ricky Pitchford (Felicia) of Oxford, North Carolina, and Sam Powell of Macon, North Carolina.

The body will be on view at the funeral home on Friday, February 14, 2020 starting at 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM and the family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

The family will be meeting at the home of Samuel J. Elam 632 Ridgeway Warrenton Road in Warrenton, North Carolina.
