Ms. Juanita Broadie

Early on Tuesday morning, February 4, 2020, Mother Juanita “Gi” Broadie (89) was called home by the Lord and entered into her eternal rest at home in Stafford, Virginia surrounded by family and friends. Juanita was born on August 19, 1930 in Dillon County, South Carolina, the third born of twelve siblings and first daughter to her parents the late Moultrie and Lutie Jane “Jannie” McCall. Juanita attended the Dillon County Public Schools, Dillon, South Carolina and at an early age dedicated her life to the Lord. Juanita left South Carolina in 1957 and headed to the Big Apple, New York City where she was employed as a Nanny and domestic worker. Juanita was joined in marriage on October 11, 1984 to the love of her life, Cleveland Junious Broadie. This union blended Juanita’s seven sons and one daughter with Cleveland’s two sons and one daughter into a bigger family. Juanita supported her husband, Cleveland in all things and helped him complete thirty plus years working as a Nurse Technician at Gracie Square Hospital in New York City, New York. Upon his retirement they moved and made Gaston, North Caroline their home. The two of them enjoyed each other’s company daily, doing all things together. Some of their favorite past times was being gardeners, where they planted all kinds of vegetables and fruit as well as raising chickens. They also enjoyed fishing and going to the Stock Yard. One of their biggest joys outside of each other was helping family, and friends with a hand up. Juanita was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family dearly. She was known for her love of baseball, being quiet, kind, having a generous heart, a beautiful smile and making great home cooked meals. Juanita was preceded in death along with her parents ~ her husband: Cleveland Junious Boardie; children: Joe Melvin McCall, Billy Lee McCall and his significant other: Angie Smith, Robert McCall, step-daughter-in-law: Linda Broadie; brothers and wives: James Edward (Louise) McCall, William (Theodosia) McCall, Moultrie McCall Jr., Lenzie (Naomia) McCall, Frazier McCall, and sister and husband: Barbara Bobby Mae (Julius) Malmberg; brother-in-Law: Elivingston Harley. Juanita leaves to cherish her loving memories and continue her legacy ~ her children: Larry McCall of Dillon, SC, William McCall of Gaston, NC, Kevin (Belinda) McCall of Rocky Mountain, NC, Denise (Lonnell) Jackson of Stafford, VA; daughter-in-Law: Laura McCall of New York, NY; step-sons: Jamal Broadie of GA and Cleveland Broadie Jr. of VA; step-daughter: Dillis (Alexander) Harrell of VA, Marc McCall of Jacksonville, FL; fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brothers: Luke (Annie Bell) McCall of Dillon, SC, Luther (Berdie Mae) McCall of Opa-Locka, FL, and sisters: Illinois Harley of Dillon, SC, Geraladine (Luben) Best of Lumberton, NC, and Betty (Clinton) Hobbs of Miami, FL, and a host of other relatives and friends.
