MR. JIMMIE CORNEL WILSON, son of the late Mabel Lee Jones Wilson Green and the late James Phillip Wilson was born January 28, 1951 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life February 7, 2020 at his residence, Baskerville, VA.

At an early age he was baptized and joined Temple Gate RZUA Church. He attended the Mecklenburg County Public Schools.

On February 29, 1972 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Cornel received the National Defense Service Medal and his title was infantry, gun crews and seamanship specialists. He received an Honorable Discharge on Feb. 29, 1975.

Cornel was married to his high school Sweetheart on August 19, 2000.

They later joined St. Luke Baptist Church under the pastorship of Rev. Kevin Pearson. In 2016 he became a Trustee of the church under the pastorship of Rev. James Issac, and remained a member until death.

In his spare time he enjoyed watching TV and fishing. Cornel leaves to mourn his devoted wife, Carolyn Ann Wilson of the home; sister- Brenda (William) Gregory, South Hill, VA; five brothers- Tim Wilson, Mercedes, CA; Ricky (Eunice) Wilson, Norfolk, VA; Michael Wilson, West, VA; Calvin (Felecia) Green, Roanoke, VA, and Roger Green, State Farm, VA; mother-in-law, Gertrude Winckler-Carroll, South Hill, VA; three sisters-in-law, Patricia (Rev. Stanley) Clary, Brodnax, VA; Phillis Winckler (John), Baskerville, VA and Wanda King, Fayetteville, NC; uncle- William Henry; God-daughter and niece, Brenetta Gregory, Newport News, VA; devoted friends- Shirley Hicks, Barbara Whittle, Kechia Stevenson and Calvin L. Feggins; friend and driver- Dan Brown; friend and aide- Patricia Brown; special cousin- Valerie Wilson, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
