Obituary For Idella Wilson

Idella Wilson was born on April 28, 1933 in Fort Pierce, Fl to Fred and Nina Mae Murray. She started an early career working in the groves and in packaging for various produce companies, such as Minute Maid. As an adult, she was inspired to get a private tutor to learn how to read utilizing the daily devotion The Upper Room.

She married Noah Wilson later in life. They spent many years together. Even after their separation she served as his caregiver until he passed.

She was a founding member and long-time President of the community gospel choir, Unity Christian Choir, performing at various church programs across the Treasure Coast. As an active member of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, she sang in the choir, read the church announcements, and chaired many church and pastor’s anniversary celebrations.

She retired from St. Lucie County after years of managing grounds and facilities at the Savannas Recreation Park. She spent much of the following years as the primary caretaker for her mother and then later her daughter until their passing. After a few years of living in Atlanta, GA, she returned home to finish her retirement.

With many memories of love, laughter, and trash-talking, she leaves to mourn her grandchildren, David Brunson of Bowling Green, Fl and Tasha (Robert) Myers of Kernersville, NC, her great-grands, Jackson and Taj, her sister Rena Lucas, niece Carolyn (David) Jones, and her special niece April Clark all of Fort Pierce, FL, as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Celebration of her life will convene on Friday, February 14, 2020 beginning at 6:00pm at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL.
