Obituary For Arthur J. Rucker

Mr. Arthur J. Rucker, 67, of Eden, NC died Friday, February 14, 2020. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 at Morning Star Baptist Church in Eden, NC. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

Arthur was born in Rockingham County September 1, 1952. He was the son of the late James Murray Rucker and Christine B. Rucker Wilson. God called him to eternal rest on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC. He was preceded in death by his father, James Rucker, his mother, Christine B. Rucker Wilson, sister, Vinnie Marie Tyson, his sister, Barbara Ann Johnson and his brother, James Elbert Rucker. Arthur was educated at Rockingham County schools. He was employed at Mize Motors in the paint and body shop for many years. Later he became self-employed in early 1984 and he mentored other painters. Arthur was very humorous and had a love for children and the elderly. He loved people and he was equally loved. Arthur loved to entertain and cook for family as well as friends. He was a faithful member at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and was a dedicated member of the usher board ministry. One of his favorite songs often sung by Vickie Wilson and Divine Host was "Meet Me at the Gate". He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife; Roberta Rucker and his stepchildren Tara Boyd of Winston Salem, NC, Anita Wilkerson of the home and Alphonso Wilkerson (Tabiatha) of Eden, NC. His siblings; Mamie Michelle Hairston (Ray), Samuel Edward Meadows (Lynn), Carl Sherman Rucker of Eden, NC, Jason Donnell Rucker of Tracy, CA, Reginald Van Rucker of Asheboro, NC, Link Forest Rucker of Raleigh, NC, three step-grandchildren; Lesha Clark, Anthony Wilkerson, Nacorious Wilkerson, a very special niece; Christie Marie Rucker, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
