Obituary For Paul Edward Spearmon

Paul Edward Spearmon, Sr., 71, of Bunnell, FL was born on Saturday, May 15, 1948 in Bunnell, FL to Charlie and Lonnie Mae Spearmon in Bunnell, FL. Paul received his education in the Flagler County School District where he was a member of the band and enjoyed playing the trumpet. He subsequently graduated from G. W. Carver High School as one of the tops graduates. Paul furthered his education at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL where he was in the Pharmacy program. He returned home and began working with Flagler County Road & Bridge (now known as Flagler County School System) where he worked in the Carver Gym with the Rev. Dr. Frank Giddens. Paul worked with the children of the community and was an instrument as a mentor and touched the lives of many. He was also an entrepreneur and ran a business selling insurance and sold clothing. Paul retired early from the Flagler County School System, but soon returned as a basketball coach where he continued playing an integral part of the upbringing of many. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, sports, and spending time with his family. Paul enjoyed playing softball with the Tigers and then the Wrecking Crew, where he earned the nickname “Heavy”. He joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Espanola, FL under Rev. Dr. Giddens who served as his spiritual father. In 2000 he married the love of his life, Mary Dunlap Spearmon, on March 25th in Bunnell, FL where they lived in marital bliss until his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his twin sister, Pauline Spearmon; brother, Charles “Sugar Man” Spearmon; sister, Queen Spearmon Brown; sons, Rodney Inez Spearmon and Ahmad Rashad Laster Sr.

He leaves to keep his memory; his loving and devoted wife, Mary Spearmon; Daughters, Shaun (George) Carter, and Vernetta (Stanley) Johnson; Sons, Paul Spearmon Jr., Desmond “Dezi” McCall, Leon “Boone” Brown Jr., Earnest “Keon” (Harriet) Hall, Javon Dunlap, and Jermodris (Antoinette) Dunlap Sr.;Sisters, Dorothy Mae Moore, Charlie Mae Jenkins, and Dorothy Jean (Glenn) Griggs; Brother, Joe Nathan (Linda) Spearmon; Sister-in-Laws, Priscilla (David) Williams and Willie Mae Scipp; Brother-in-law, David Hall, 33 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, Goddaughter, Holly Harris; Dear Friends, John Mitchell, and David Wilson; Special Friend, Lenard Cooper, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

The viewing will be 5:00p.m. – 6:00p.m. Friday, February 28, 2020 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Espanola, FL, Rev. Dr. Frank Giddens, Sr., Pastor. Rev. Ronald Stafford, eulogist. The Homegoing Celebration will be 2:00p.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. The burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Palm Coast, FL.
