Pattie Celia Davis Boyd, daughter of the late Charlie and Viola Helen Perry Davis was born on December 26, 1927 in Warren County, North Carolina. She was married to the late Percy Lee Boyd, and to this union, three children were born. Pattie accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age, and was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. She attended Greenwood on a regular basis until her health started to decline. For several years, she sang in the church choir and she was a member of the usher board. One might hear her humming a hymn or spiritual anytime during the day while cooking, washing dishes, or ironing. She loved to break out a tune every now and then, especially while her family was watching the news. Pattie graduated from John R. Hawkins High School in 1947. After she graduated from high school, she moved to Brooklyn, NY to work while living with her oldest brother Horace and his wife Vancie. For several years Pattie and Percy lived in Baltimore, MD. In her early thirties, for a brief time, she moved to Newark, NJ where she worked as a presser in a dry cleaners. The majority of her working life was spent in the textile industry in Warren and Vance Counties. Pattie also worked as a presser in the dry cleaners on Macon Street in Warrenton, and at Boyd’s cleaners in Manson. She learned to sew and enjoyed creating something from a piece of material. She made her own clothes, curtains for her house, and she did alterations for family and friends. Pattie was preceded in death by her seven brothers; Arthur, Percy, Robert, Sandy, Lewis, Horace and Alton. After a brief struggle with illness, Pattie departed this life at her home on Saturday, February 22, 2020. She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Fenice Boyd, Columbia, SC, two sons, Wayne Boyd (Concetta) and Lawrence Boyd (Giannelli), Warrenton, NC; two grandsons: Averick Parker (fiancé Amanda Winkelsas) of Buffalo, NY, and Jamaal Parker of Columbia, SC; one sister-in-law, Helen Floyd, Charlotte, NC; one niece, Valerie Floyd, Charlotte NC; two adopted daughters, Jacquelyn and Angie Wilson, Henderson, NC; five adopted grandsons, Cedric Keith Parker, Oxford, NC, Bryan Shearin, Warrenton, NC, Joe Wesley Jones, Jr., Durham, NC, Quincy Hargrove, Creedmoor, NC, and Bishop J.
