While at St. Paul University, she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and graduated Magna Cum Laude. After graduating from college, she returned to Eden, North Carolina and served as an Administrative Assistant at Douglas High School. She was a devoted and dedicated worker, who always went beyond the call of duty. She later worked as a fourth-grade teacher in the Henry County School System in Virginia for ten years, where she displayed her insatiable love for children. Barbara, who was often called by her middle name Ann, later moved to Norfolk, Virginia where she married Walter Parham on September 4, 1975. After years with the Navy, she worked for the United States Postal Service, receiving multiple service awards for her hard work and dedication. She retired from the US Postal Service. Barbara was multi-talented and one of her greatest gifts was that as a tailor. She worked meticulously with her hands. Sewing out of much love and with great precision, her pieces grace the closets and homes of many even to this day! After retiring, she returned to Eden, North Carolina to care for her mother Blanche and later sister Minnie until their homegoing. Barbara was dedicated and committed to her family. A tireless giver, she supported and encouraged her siblings, nieces, and nephews in whatever they did. This part of who she was, was not limited to family…..she devoted herself to everyone that ever needed her. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Blanche Robertson; brother, Charles W. Robertson, and sisters, Geraldine Fawcette, Norma J. Lawson, Rebecca G. Dawkins, Jerline Smith and Minnie Strange. She leaves to cherish her memory her twin brother Pastor Bobby Robertson of Greensboro, NC; her youngest brother Alexander Robertson of Baltimore, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

I am packing up my parents' home and found a few items of beautiful clothing with "Custom Made by Barbara Robertson Parham" tags sewn in them and so I felt compelled to Google her. What a wonderful legacy. Continued blessings and comfort to her family.
