Darren B. Gustafson was taken to eternal rest suddenly on February 21, 2020. He was born on September 24, 1969 in Hinsdale, Illinois to Judy and Gus Gustafson. Darren spent his teenage years in Redlands, California, where he graduated from Redlands High School. He went on to attend the University of Oregon, where he earned his B.S. degree in Political Science and competed as a Division I Wrestling athlete. Darren met Lani when he was living in Colorado. He relocated to Atlanta, GA in pursuit of the love of his life and they were married at Saint Pi us X Catholic Church in Conyers, GA in June 2001. Darren was committed to Lani an d loved her dearly, throughout it all. To this union two children were born , Emilia and Dylan. Darren loved being a father. He beamed with pride and love whenever he talked about Dylan and Emilia and was ever present in their daily lives; be it cheering Dylan on from the sidelines at basketball games or going to every performance of Emilia's latest play. He was also an amazing friend; grounded in his faith, there to listen and comfort his friends in troubled times. Never one to take him self too seriously; where others often laughed with him, yet sometimes at him . Darren enjoyed teaching Sunday school at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, spending time with family and friends, watching sports events, dancing (even though he did not have rhythm), exercising, and telling corny Dad jokes. Darren was preceded in death by his adoring mother, Judy. Darren leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 18 years, Lani Gustafson; his daughter Emilia, and his son, Dylan; his father, Gus, sisters Amy and Audra; his brother, Louis; brother in-law Jason, sister in law Eileen, nephews Zach, Jason, Gavin and Trey, niece Allie and a multitude of cherished family friends.

Darren~ I will always remember the last time I saw you so many years ago at our 10th year reunion. We always fought like brothers, and sisters in high school, and beyond, yet loved each other deeply.
