Interment will be in the church cemetery. Ms. Swain will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Ms. Tisha Mae Herring Swain was born on Monday, September 10, 1934, to the union of Eddie and Lola Herring.

At an early age, Tisha united with the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and later with St. Campbell Missionary Baptist Church. Tisha served as a Mother of St. Campbell Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Cheerful Givers. She was a graduate of Phillis Wheatley High School in the Talladega County School System. Through marriage to T. Wiley Swain (deceased), she bore eight children. She was a retired employee of Crown Textile, Talladega Healthcare and the Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind.

She was an avid quilter and community activist. Quick witted with welcoming conversation, she was a mother to all whom she encountered.

On Thursday, February 27, 2020, the Lord called Tisha to her heavenly rest. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Eddie and Lola Herring; a son, Wiley Swain; three grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Dates and Emma Reynolds; six brothers, Rayfield Herring, Otis Herring, Bill Herring, John Herring, Arthur Lee Herring and Alfonzo Herring; and two stepbrothers, Paul Morris and Earl L. Morris.

She leaves to cherish her memories: seven children, Gwendolyn Swain (Eric) and Juliette Swain (Henry) of Alpine, Alabama, William Swain of Munford, Alabama, Emma Swain (Charles) and Myra Swain of Talladega, Alabama, Bernice Bradshaw (Harry) of Copperas Cove, Texas and Frances Morris (Terry) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; twenty-two grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; a grand Goddaughter; three sisters, Mary Abercrombie of Cleveland, Ohio, Annie Pearl Swain and Mary Garrett of Alpine, Alabama; one brother, Walter Herring of Alpine, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
