Obituary For Mary Ann Sanders

A celebration of life for Ms. Mary Ann Sanders, 70, will be 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at First Baptist Church, South. Pastor Jeffrey D. Wilson will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in the Rocky Zion Cemetery. Ms. Sanders will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Ms. Mary Ann Sanders began her earthly journey on Saturday, September 10, 1949 to the parentage of William L. Gover, Sr. and Claudia Sanders in Pell City, Alabama.

Ms. Sanders was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, South Mary Ann was a graduate of St. Clair County Training School. Professionally she was employed with Gold Kist Poultry and in her spare time she enjoyed cooking and reading.

After several years of failing health, on the evening Sunday, February 28, 2020, Mary Ann began her eternal journey while she was a patient at Grandview Medical Center. She was preceded in passing by her parents, William L. Gover, Sr. and Claudia Sanders; a brother, William L. Gover, Jr.; and a sister, Maggie Ruth Tyson.

Ms. Sanders leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Regina (Van, Sr.) Posey of Moody, Alabama; one son, Steven (Pamela) Sanders of Pell City, Alabama; five grandchildren, Shernevoline Sanders, Miranda Sanders, Marlon (Ebony) Sanders, Mariah Sanders and Van Posey, II; seven great grandchildren, Amara, Ariel, Vick, II, Kaylee Grace, Karter Chase, Jamiere and Vickavia; four sisters, Cathy Oden of Mississippi, Sharon Sanders of Lincoln, Alabama, Barbara Woodward of Atlanta, Georgia and Celeste Wilson of Anniston, Alabama; three brothers, Turnett Sanders and Wayne Crowe of Pell City, Alabama and Jerry Woodward of Atlanta, Georgia; a Godson, Spencer (Demisha) Sanders of Oak Park, Michigan; a special friend, Danice Seay of Pell City, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
