Obituary For John Grant, Jr.

John Roosevelt Grant, Jr., 88, of Schoolhouse Lane, Harrisburg, transitioned into eternal life on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at M. S. Hershey Medical Center.

He was born in Philadelphia, son of the late John Roosevelt Grant, Sr. and Pauline Bell Grant, retired from the U. S. Air Force, a member of the First Baptist Church of Steelton, where he served on the Choir, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Kappa Omega Chapter, an endowment member of the NAACP and in his leisure, he loved to fish and travel. He also loved opera and classical music.

John leaves to celebrate his life, his wife, Jessica D. Butler-Grant; his sons, Richard E. Grant, Sr. (Darlene) of Sickerville, NJ and John R. Grant III of Upper Marlboro, MD; his sisters, Judith E. Grant, Eva P. Grant and Paulette A. O’Neill, all of Philadelphia; his seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

His life will be celebrated on Friday, March 6 at 12 Noon in the Sanctuary of his Church, 1850 S.19th St., Harrisburg 17104 with viewing 11 a.m. until Noon; Omega Services at 11:30 and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
