Mr. John Willie McDaniel

Augusta, Georgia—John Willie McDaniel transitioned peacefully at Pruitt Health of Augusta on March 6, 2020 joining his dear wife of 49 years, Mildred Thomas McDaniel.

John was born in Augusta, Georgia on January 13, 1941 to the late Joseph and Carrie Kenner McDaniel. John attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School and was a proud graduate of the 1959 class of Lucy C. Laney High School. He also briefly attended Paine College. John was a life-long member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, where Reverend Clarence Moore serves as pastor. Over the years, John was employed by Federal Paper Board, the Augusta Country Club, American National Insurance Company, and Westlake Country Club.

John was preceded in death by his three brothers, Robert, Joe Oscar, and Charlie; and grandson Corey Kyler (Tangela).

He is survived by his loving children, son, John "Tony" McDaniel (Neida); daughters, D'andrea McDaniel and Tangela McCorkle; granddaughters, Lilliana, Jessenia, and Destine'; and great-grandchildren, Broderick Godbee and Zai'ja Bass.

A viewing and family visitation will be held at the mortuary on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Westover Memorial Park on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. The processional will leave the family residence at 10:00 a.m..

John, my friend, neighbor, schoolmate, but best of all a baseball team mate. Many summer days spent chasing balls and sneaking into backyards to retrieve a home run ball without being reprimanded.
