My condolences and prayers of comfort to the Ray family. Preddy and I met when I pledged Phi Beta Sigma in 1971, He was my big brother who I learned a lot from. Although we were close in age, he was a mentor to me and we shared good times at VCU. Through the years our paths crossed only occasionally, but I will always carry him in my heart. Frat Brother George Jones

My deepest sympathy to Cassandra and the family. Preddy Ray was my first boss when I worked for the Task Force for Historic Preservation in the Minority Community, during the summer before I left for college freshman year. I learned so much from him during that brief time. Another community warrior called to rest. RIH Preddy Ray. Angela Rowe

To the family of Preddy: I first met Preddy in 1969. We were working for a progressive political candidate here in Richmond. I was 24. Preddy (and his friend Melvin Pope) must have been 18. From the beginning, Preddy sought to make things better. I watched him evolve into a very effective force for justice and change in this community, and I admired him very much. I last saw him before Christmas at colleague Ed Peeples' funeral. I regret missing Preddy's service, due to Covid-19. Sincere blessings to his loved ones and his many friends. Ben Ragsdale
