Obituary Deacon Freeman Ernest Hill departed his life on Sunday morning, March 15, 2020 at his home, with his loving wife by his side. He was born in DeSoto Parish on July 8, 1939 to the late Clister Hill and Henrietta Blackmon Hill. He was the second of ten children. He dedicated his life to Christ as an adolescent at the Cedar Hill Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. G. D. Jackson. Freeman received his formal training through Desoto Parish School. He graduated from Second Ward High School and was a proud member of 1958 graduating class. He also, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Poultry Husbandry from Grambling State University in 1962. After graduating college, he moved to Houston, Texas and joined Mt. Horem Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Freeman. He resided in Houston until 2005. He united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Vera Pearl Fuller on September 6, 1963. They shared 57 years of marriage. He worked 27 years in the Houston Aluminum and Chemical Can Plant. After retiring, he worked a few years as a teacher at Galena Park Independent School District. Upon returning to DeSoto Parish, he joined the Mt. Mariah Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Johnny Baylor; where he served faithfully as a Deacon and Sunday School member until his health failed on April 5, 2019. Freeman loved the outdoors and working with animals, poultry and his vegetable garden. He loved his “Little Art Gallery”. His art was featured in the Mansfield Enterprise and displayed in the exhibit at the Desoto Parish Art Council and Art Shows. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clister Hill and Henrietta Blackmon Hill and sisters, Irma Hill and Clarice Collins. His memories will forever be cherished by his family and those who loved him; His wife of fifty-seven years, Vera Pearl Fuller Hill; Godson, Everett Nauls, Grand Godchildren, Virginia and Lea Washington; two brothers, Murray Hill of Houston, Texas, Lloyd Hill (Sandra) of Mansfield, LA; five sisters, Inesia Hill, Nedoshia Lester, Annie Broadnax (Dave), Barbara Butler and Joyce Hill , all of Seattle, Washington.; sisters-in-law, Mary Fuller Coleman, Earthella Hines Fuller, and Ida Fuller Nauls., brother-in-law, Birdex Copleland, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
