Gleno Horne, 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020

Graveside service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Reverend Malcolm Eatmon, officiating.

Just tried to call Gleno and thought to Google him. My heart is broken. I was Vivien's best friend in VA and became friends with Gleno, Claude and Bymun during her illness. My sincere condolences to his family. He was a great God caring man. Yvette Johnson

On February 29, Hardees had a Reunion attended by over 400 former employees and spouses. Gleno assisted the organizers "behind the scene" with key information about two employees who were honored that evening: Janie Mae Sharpe and Janie Ray Horne. I was very fortunate to sit a bit with Gleno that evening and remember those olden-golden days when he and his staff knew Hardees office secrets and goings-on. Gleno and I laughed too much that evening. But then, we laughed too much way back when as well. One of his staff was named Lonnie, who has since passed. The three of us often were doubled over gossiping and yakkin away about who was kissing whom in the office. Gleno was essentially a fine gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor. To the Family of Gleno: It has been years since I worked with Gleno at Hardee's. But his passing allowed me to recall nearly 9 years of working with a truly kind and helpful colleague. He literally ran the logistics of moving inter-company communications among floors and buildings, making sure everyone got their communiques on-time and in an efficient manner. Never a harsh word for anyone, he went about his tasks so professionally. What a great guy to work with! When we had bad weather, Gleno seemed to be the first person at the office. He was just so helpful. I know this is a heavy loss for the family. It is a great loss to the one person who had the most continuity with the Hardee's Family too. Rest in peace dear gentle sir. To the Horne and Turner families: We are so deeply saddened by the loss of Gleno. He was a very dear friend to us for many years. In fact, Gleno was more like family to us and no one can replace him in our lives - he was so special and kind to our entire family. We feel certain that we will never meet another person like him. Gleno spoke of his family often in such a special way, especially his grand-children, Jada and Jordan. He loved them so much. We will always remember the laughter, and fun that Gleno brought to our lives, especially during Sunday dinners, and special occasions - he was always giving compliments on the meal or foods that he had probably taught us how to cook. Gleno was always there for us. There was always laughter in Gleno's heart and spirit. We loved him and will miss him dearly. We want you to know that we feel so blessed to have had Gleno in our lives. One of my fond memories of Gleno was knowing when I visited for family functions, i would see Gleno. He was a family person. He once invited my entire family to stay over night at his house knowing he had to go to work the next day. He left the house to us without hesitation and directed us to the food, and said dont worry about cleaning up, make yourselves at home.Gleno always smiled, he was gentle,he was kind, he was professional, he got it done. As i sit here with a heavy heart, Gleno and "Teen" were precious cousins in my eyes.Rest in Peace cuz. Children, of the late Frances and Harvey Horne.

Was so sorry to hear this sad news. I worked at Hardee's Food Systems in the early years - 1967-1974. Always looked forward to see Gleno's smiling face when he came to my office with a "boatload of mail" as we called it. Such a fine gentleman and great sense of humor.
