Obituary For Mary Ann George

Sister Mary Ann George was born in Fort Pierce, FL on April 2, 1945 to the late Millard Alphonso Fields, Sr. and Evangelist Sarah Mae Fields. She was the oldest out of ten children born from this union.

She received her basic education and later high school diploma from Licoln Park Academy. She continued her education receiving an Associate's Degree and bachelor's degree in Childhood Education from Lincoln Junior Colloege and Florida Atlantic University, respectively. Her career was spent as a teacher in the St. Lucie County School System until retirement. After retirement, she continued to instill learning at different facilities including the Learning Tree and the Teen Center.

In 1967, Mary Ann married the late Robert George. To this union, two children were born: Billy Ray and Regina Arnette.

Sis. George accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and became a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She served in many auxillaries over the years including varios choirs, Missionary Society, Pastor's Aide Committee, and the Youth Department. She enjoyed and was known for her singing in the community. She was a member of the Zeta Eta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

On Wednesday, March 11, 2020, Mary Ann departed thisworld and entered a place where joy and peace are everlasting. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Millard and Sarah Fields; son, Billy Ray; and brother, Alphonso Fields, Jr.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Regina Carthon(Roger) of Lawrenceville, GA; granddaughter, Rae Carthon of Duluth, GA; sisters, Mildred Adderley(William) and Charlotte Martin(Izell) both of Fort Pierce, FL, Patricia Fields of Milledgeville, GA, Betty Greene(Earliest) of Fort Pierce, FL, Sarah Pack(Eddie) of Fort Pierce, FL, Linda Williams(Freddie) of Douglas, GA, Harriet Frost(Dexton) of Washington, DC, and Eva Williams(Alphonso) of Douglas, GA; sisters-in-law, Norma Fields(Alphonso Fields, Jr., deceased), Ada Mae Scurry, Dora Plant, Shirley Plant; brothers-in-law, Willie James George and Eugene George; many godchildren including, Greg Chambers and Shantell Fields, and a host of friends, extended relatives, and church family who will miss her dearly.

Public visitation for Mary Ann George will take place on Friday, March 20, 2020 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL. A Celebration of her Life will convene on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow in Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce, FL.

Triumphant Soror Mary Ann George I remember your kindness in being an angel helping young women through the Stork's Nest.
