He received his education in the public schools in Gadsden County and later enlisted into United States Army on May 18, 1967. He served for three years and was honorably discharged on June 21, 1970. While enlisted in the US Army, he fought and was injured in the Vietnam war, receiving a “Purple Heart.”
Joseph Franklin Williams was employed at the Florida State Hospital as a UTRS Supervisor. He retired in 2012 after seventeen years of dedicated service.
Home going services for Joseph Williams will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 11:00 am est at the St. Hebron AME Church Cemetery located at 1730 St. Hebron Road in Quincy, Fl. Interment will following the services with services entrusted to the caring staff of Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna, FL.
Viewing of the remains will be conducted at the chapel of Peoples Funeral Home located at 2876 Orange Street in Marianna, FL from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with social distancing being observed and no group larger than 10 people at a time.
Cherishing his memories are: A Loving longtime companion of 26 years Endora Garrett of Greenwood, FL; one daughter, Shandra Beckwith; two grandchildren LaVante & LaDarius Beckwith; A daughter he raised; Sha'Christmas Lloyd, two sons, Octaxius Garrett and Antonio Hearns, grandchildren; Harmone` Hearns, ,Jayde Jennings, Alanna Hearns, Mckeinzie Smith and Kayden Brown, Endora’s sister; Angela Garrett, and brother, Elmore Garrett and wife Cynthia all of Greenwood, FL.

Five Sisters, Bernice Jones (William); Sallie Diggs (Arzell Diggs Jr,) Elizabeth Thompson (Melvin), Lavetra Wooden (David) and Carrie Miller (Roy). One uncle, John Scott Houston, Quincy, FL; one aunt Minnie Houston, loving cousins, Arthur Lee Britt, Tony Robinson Sr. and Tony Robinson, Jr. and a host of sorrowing cousins, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Williams; Mother, Sallie Mae Williams; brothers, Earnest and Randolph Williams.
