Murph was a freedom fighter and joins the ranks of Harriet, Huey, King, Chokwe, Garner, Rosa, Shuttlesworth, and so so many known and unknown Black people who worked to advance the liberation of oppressed people. Murph was a member and leader of Southerners On New Ground for almost 10yrs. They were brilliant and could research and find anything! They were quiet and measured when they spoke. They believed in a world that valued the human dignity of all humans and fought to make it happen. Murph fought for Mother Earth and understood that we couldn't get free if we allowed the powers that be and the systems it created to ruin the planet. Murph did grassroots organizing in Birmingham and had deep political connections to many organizations in the South and across the country. Murph believed in the liberation of the Palestinian people and educated many of us on international solitary. They were an internationalist Much like Ms. Ella Baker. They were kind and offered me water when they wanted to show care and concern. Murph stayed with me and our comrades when they would visit Atlanta. Murph was my friend and comrade and I will never forget their contribution to queer/Black/Brown liberation!!!!!
