Obituary For Mrs. Helen Pegues Royal

Quietly, calmly, and peacefully the earthly life of Helen Pegues Royal came to a close on Friday, March 27, 2020 at her residence. Helen was born August 12, 1931 in Chesterfield County, SC to the late Thomas “Tom” and Laura Pegues. Helen parents passed away at an early age, and she was raised by her grandparents, the late David and Estella Watson. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Irene Tatum, Mabel Hardison, Estella Hardison and Virginia Williams; one brother, Willie “Buddy” Pegues; one granddaughter, Contessa Royal and a great grandson, Na’Tory Royal.

Helen attended South Carolina Public Schools. At an early age, she became a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she was on the choir. As an adult, she became a member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church in High Point, NC where she attended faithfully until her health declined.

She was employed by Fli Back for many years. She later was employed by Guilford County Schools in which she retired. Helen was a wonderful, loving person who loved her family and was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to cook and made the best pound cakes.

Surviving to cherish her precious memory, her husband of 68 years, Frank Royal of the home; two sons, Douglas (Vanessa) Royal, Larry (Paula) Royal; two daughters, Brenda (Darris) Little and Teresa (Jeffrey) Wright all of High Point, NC; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A private funeral service will be held Friday, April 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Public viewing will be Thursday, April 2, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
