Judy C. Adkins

05/01/1955 - 04/07/2020

Judy Christian Adkins, 64, of Providence Forge,VA, passed away April 7, 2020 at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center.

Judy was born on May 1, 1955. She graduated from New Kent High School in 1973, and spent about 20 years as a machine operator and occasional team lead for Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and ViaSystems. Judy later went on to receive a certificate of Management Development from J. Sargeant Reynolds. She spent the last 12 years of her life working in the mailroom at DMV.

Judy gave her life to Christ at an early age and has been a member of Mount Calvary Church International ever since. Over the years, she served as a member of the choir, and leader of both the Missionary and Intercessory Prayer teams. She also became a licensed Minister in 2008, under the guidance of Archbishop Raymond L. Otey Sr. Judy had a heart for drawing people closer to Christ by ensuring their basic needs of food, water, and shelter were met. She lived her life in earnest prayer for others.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Hallie Christian, and her brother Jerome Christian.

She is survived by her children, Catina Jones (Jeff) and Renard Adkins, Jr. (Tisa); 6 grandchildren Kayla, Stephen, Joshua, Trinity, Jeremiah, and Isabella; her siblings, Kathleen Moran, Loretta Adkins (Alvin), Annais Christian, Janice Carlton, and Charmesha Cousins; devoted cousins Sherri Bradby, Dale Wallace, Sharon Taylor Jordan; nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

In her last days, Judy told her children to tell everyone she loved them, then she encouraged them with the reminder that sometimes life is on the other side.

As her family, we firmly believe death is a parting, but it is not final. “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:13-14 NIV.
