On April12, 2020, the angel of mercy was dispatched from the heavenly rims of glory to claim the soul of Samuel Taylor at his home in Lithonia , Georgia. He was born August 9, 1940, in Moncks Corners, South Carolina to the late Alberth a Taylor Mack. Sam,as he was affectionately called by many, graduated from Berkeley County Training School, Monck Corners, South Carolina, Class of 1960.After high school, he worked in construction. After a few years, he then moved to New York. It was there Sam learned the plumbing trade, working under the watchful eye of his cousin, Kenneth Taylor at Kenneth Taylor's Plumbing Shop. It was also in New York, that Sam met and married the love of his life, Barbara Harper on June 25, 1966. In 1980, the couple moved to Decatur, Georgia. Sam found employment with Greater DeKalb Plumbing and Repair Company, Inc. Several years later, he joined the Atlanta Housing Authority and achieved the status of "Master Plumber". After many years of service, he retired from the Atlanta Housing Authority. After retirement, Sam continued to provide plumbing services on a private basis, serving customers in the community for many years. After moving to DeKalb County, Sam and Barbara also needed to find a church home. They visited many churches in the area before uniting with their church home, Saint Philip AME Church. At Saint Philip, Sam was a faithful member of Choir #1, the Male Chorus and the Male Usher Board.
