Obituary For Sara Lou Martin

The late Sara Lou Martin of 209 Hanner Avenue, Ashburn, Georgia, departed this life on Monday, April 13, 2020 at her residence. A private ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. from the Westview Memorial Cemetery in AShburn, Georgia.

Sarah Lou Martin was born on July 24, 1930 in Turner County, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Melvinie Rivers. She was blessed with three daughters, Bernice McClain, Willie Eva Pryor, Annie Jones, and a son, Willie Frank Rivers. At an early age, she joined the St. John Holiness Church in Ashburn, Georgia. She served in the church as a Deaconess, Church Secretary, and Sunday School teacher for many years.

Sarah supported her family by working as a cook, factory work and a caregiver.

Early in her life, Sarah met the love of her life, the late Emzie Martin, Sr., and the two were married on February, 2, 1952. Later in life, she welcomed Victoria David, Emzie B. Martin, Jr., Lashandra Martin, Samantha Tukes, and Anthony Martin.

Sarah gave up this busy walk of life on Monday, April 13, 2020 at her home. Her parents, her husband, and a daughter, Bernice McClain, have all preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Willie Eva Pryor of Daytona, Florida, Annie Jones of Ashburn, Georgia; a son, Willie Frank Rivers of Jersey City, New Jersey; her stepchildren, Victoria Davis, Emzie B. Martin, Jr., Lashandra Martin, Samantha Tukes, Anthony Martin, all of Ashburn, Georgia; three sisters, Irene Oliver of Wichita, Kansas, Minnie Sheffield, Bessie Davis, both of Ashburn, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, Tony McClain, Janene Levine, Belinda Jones, Geneth Jones, Samantha Ellerbee, Latonia Jones, Ron Wonsley, Katasha Rivers, Cynthia Rivers, Anthony Rivers, Sherri Graham; twenty-four great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
