The Obituary JAMES COOPER “JC” HALL
Our dearly beloved James Cooper “JC” Hall was born to late Johnny and late Minnie Hall on September 16, 1938 in Converse, Louisiana. He was the oldest of 13 siblings.
JC confessed Christ at an early age at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Converse, Louisiana. He loved his church and served for many years as trustee of Oak Grove Baptist Church. JC was a faithful member of the church and counselor to the Pastors. JC graduated from DeSoto High School in Mansfield in 1957. He loved to sing and dance. He started his own band, “Vance Hall & Rockets Rocking”, theme song was “Come Baby Let the Good Times Roll”. JC was the Lead Singer, “Star of the Band”, Guitar Player & danced like Elvis Presley, Band members included Fred London -Lead Guitar, James Lee Smith- Base Guitar, Blue- Drummer, John Charles Hensley- Piano, and James Stanley – Manager. They played at the “Blue Bonnet” in Mansfield, and “Sixty Club” and “Four Fault” in Shreveport.
While leading his band he met the love of his life, Verna Marie Guiton and they were united on August 18, 1960. They moved to California and he worked at IBM Company, and a gardener and landscaper in Hollywood. He loved the country life and they returned to Louisiana.
JC had a dream and vision. He became an “Entrepreneur” and “Businessman” in the wood business. He grew his business with his two son, Darryal Sr. and Connie Hall into James C. Hall Timber Company. His generosity was felt far and wide. His heart of giving will be remembered by many who knew him. JC and Verna celebrated 59 years of marriage. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for anyone when asked. He loved life, music, Cadillacs and Continental cars, and his Country Lincoln, a Chevy Silverado truck and enjoyed life to its fullest.
He joins his parents, brothers, children and grandson: Robin Hall, Curtis Hall, Doug Hall; his infant daughter and son: Baby Girl Hall and Keith McBee, grandson: Christopher Moore Hall. JC departed his life on Thursday, April 9, 2020. His memory, dedication and “boss-man” spirit shall continue to live through all who loved him.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, a devoted wife, Verna Hall, five children: Sharon (Still) Edwards, Darryal (Tonya) Hall Sr., Connie (Beverly) Hall, all of Mansfield Louisiana, “Wanda” Beverly (Ken) Brookins, Stone Mountain Georgia, Evette (Darryl) Merritt, Buford, Georgia; nine siblings: V. Doris, Lois, Thedorothy, Myrtis Lavern, Irva Faye, all of Sacramento California, Merelean, Willie Ruth, Sherman all of Mansfield Louisiana, McKenzie “Mack” Hall Logansport, Louisiana, (18) grandchildren, (23) great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
