OBITUARY

MR. JOHN LEE TISDALE, affectionately called “HOOKER”, age 68 of South Hill, VA departed his life suddenly on Friday, April 10, 2020 at VCU-Community Memorial Hospital of South Hill, VA. He was born to the late Edna G. Phillips and the late Neddie Revis on Saturday, April 21, 1951. John Lee was preceded in death by his four sisters- Lula Mae Studivant, Nettie Gregory, Ann and Diane Watkins.John Lee has worked several jobs until he found his true calling as a cement finisher and was last employed by Clyde Walker Concrete of South Hill, VA.John Lee was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Duke Blue Devils. He really loved and cared deeply for all of his family members. “Hooker” as many of his friends would call him, was very well known by many people and he was very well respected. He was also known as the neighborhood watchman.John Lee survived by his nine children- Tawanda Craig, Essex, MD; Celestine Carroll (Franklin), Phoenix, AZ; Delores (Keith) Wyche, Alberta, VA; Lisa and Theresa Tisdale, South Hill, VA; Darrius (Tasheama) Garnes, Henrico, VA, Tyree (Kisha) Bacon, McKenney, VA; Lethian Harvey, LaCrosse, and Kelvin Tisdale (Joi), Lawrenceville, VA; 36 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 1 brother- Willie Ben (Debbie) Tisdale, South Hill, VA; 3 sisters- Lorraine Stanford, Eastern Shore, MD; Jennie (Alston “Bill”) Ferguson and Rebecca House, all of South Hill, VA; grandmother- Roselle “Duck” Tisdale, LaCrosse, VA; 5 aunts- Mattie Eason, South Hill, VA; Tywanna Farrar and Mary Tisdale, both of Richmond, VA; Maccie Farrar, Petersburg, VA; Michelle Tisdale, South Hill, VA; 2 Godchildren- Neil “Squrly” Watkins and Cheryl Craddock; devoted and loving companion- Mary Evans, White Plains, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.John Lee will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

My prayers goes out to the Tisdale Family. I'll never forget the times we had together. Hooker, Scope, Leon Kersey, Boo Craig and myself spent our early days roaming all over South Hill on our biycles. We were friends to the end. Rest in peace my friend.
