Obituary For Marilyn Johnson

Mrs. Marilyn Johnson was born on February 10, 1932 in Adel, GA to her parents, Keturah L. Sinclair and Melvin C. Copeland. She was educated in Cook County School System. She was employed with Southern Bell Telephone Company before retiring after 25 years of service.

At an early age, Marilyn joined Welcome Baptist Church in Adel, GA. Upon moving to Valdosta, GA in 1952, she later joined Bethel Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church and remained a devoted and loyal member until her passing. She served in many capacities throughout her membership at Bethel CME Church to include choir member, stewardess, and Missionary Board President. She was also a faithful member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC).

Marilyn was very devoted to her family and extended family. She was united in holy matrimony to R.C. Johnson on February 18, 1952. They were married for 55 years until his passing in 2007. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Delpino and Geraldine Harden; two bonus children, Wilma Jean McCormick and Robert Johnson; and her beloved daughter, Virginia "Ginny" Riddick.

She leaves to cherish her most loving memories, her daughters, Leroyce Fulton (Andrew), Marsha Parker both of Valdosta, GA; Karen Rose (Derrick) of Tallahassee, FL and Michelle Johnson of Jacksonville, FL; one bonus daughter, Myrtice Wilcox of Sparks, GA; one bonus son, Rogers Johnson of Clinton, MD; one sister, Evelyn Hill-Herron of Southfield, MI; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Johnson of Seattle, WA; one son-in-law, Kevin Riddick of Valdosta, GA; 25 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Graveside Service for Mrs. Marilyn Johnson will be held Saturday, April 25, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Rev. Ellis Jackson, officiating.

Due to COVID-19, Stevens Funeral Home will be enforcing social distancing and following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.
