Phyllis was a long standing member of New Bethel Baptist Church where she was a member of AVOW (Anointed Voices Of Wisdom), The Gladiators, Church Greeter, Kitchen Ministry, JC Queen’s Dance Ministry advisor and SOAR (Summer Of Adventure ReImagined) where she was affectionately known as “Aunt Phyllis”.
Phyllis was also known as “ChillyRatt, and was the baby girl of seven children born to Hasker Lee Nesbitt, Sr. and Eloise Robbins Nesbitt. She was educated in the Guilford County School System where she graduated from Southwest Guilford High School Class of 1983. After graduation, she went on to further her education at The Prestigious North Carolina Agricultural & Technical University.
Phyllis was employed with Time Warner Cable for 18 years.
Left to cherish her memories are her son of the home, William Devon McManus; sisters, Harriett Nicholson (Larry) of Simpsonville, SC.; Joyce McBride (Sheron) and Janice Camp of High Point, NC; goddaughters, Jalah Lee, Ladayisa and Tionna Boyd; godson, Jaquez Boyd and her loving friend, Gary James as well as nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
A private funeral service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2020. Interment will be at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Mrs. McManus will lie in state Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
